New Demo App for BLE010 Indoor Environmental Sensor
We are releasing updates for demo firmware for the TI CC2650STK with BLE009A Demo Board.
BLE Broadcast (not connectable), advertises Temperature, Humidity, Ambient Light, Keys, AA Cell Voltage every 2 seconds.
Sensor Sampling is synchronised to advertising.
GAP_ADTYPE_LOCAL_NAME_COMPLETE has complete identification including FWVer and Device ID number (positive identification of each device even on ios).
GAP_ADTYPE_MANUFACTURER_SPECIFIC has the Sensor Data.
Excellent for Demos and Systems Development, realistic environmental sensing.
Typical Alkaline AA cell > 1.5 years operation (subject to ambient temperature, see cell manufacturers data sheet). Use LiFeS2 AA cell (Eg Energizer L91) for low ambient temperature operation.
This CRO sample shows the synchronised Sensor Sampling before the BLE Advert Packet is transmitted (Sensor Sampling starts 1 sec before Advert TX).
We offer this as a BLE009A board, and a pre-programmed CC2650STK – each with a different DeviceID (The downloads page demo firmware is only the one DeviceID).
This App currently lists the BLE devices in range, and provides some basic information on “known” devices.

This app is under development to support our devices coming, see Products Page for further information on the upcoming development road map.
The Gerbers and BOM for the BLE009A CC2650STK IO Demo Dev Board are now available through the Downloads page.
You can use these files to build your own PCBs.
We have released a new Evo Things App (AppVer00A) for the CC2650 Sensor Tag with the BLE009A IO Demo Dev Board
A CC2640 with a FLASH (SPI) and EEPROM (IIC) on a small plug in module (JST JMC receptical on the BLE008A).
Primarily intended to be a plug in module to add data logging and BLE enabled settings into a product. The demo firmware will provide a UART MODBUS interface for logging and settings communications with the host system.
This board is a tiny 20mm x 30mm.
It includes a JST SH 1mm 5pin connector for the cJTAG. The precrimped JST SH cable is available from OnLine marketplaces, and its easy to connect to a CC2650EXL launchpad for a programmer.
The JST JMC connector comes in different plug heights, allowing flexibility in the stacking with the host board.
The BLE008A can also be uses on its own, plug into your IO Sensor board, and you have an instant data logging solution with a BLE interface.
The board mounts a Radioland CC2640-S1 module. These modules have a ipx/ufl RF connector. You can use an external antenna for improved RF performance.
Pics of the BLE009A from the first boards made.
While you can’t see it, the CC2650 Sensor Tag is running in advertising mode in the above picture.
The board uses JST PH 2mm headers for external IIC, SPI, UART connections. The cables pictured are bought pre-crimped / assembled from OnLine marketplaces. This enables you to set up different interface boards, or plug in our Sensor Boards.
An excellent choice for BLE Demonstrations and Development. Very versatile, use for Systems testing (gateway development), peripheral and sensor interface development, and customer proof of concept demos.

bit of an update on BLE – voltage free switch contact monitor – low power – with contact wetting boost circuit
We are using the TI CC2650STK and have a small development board with our boost circuit. We are using periodic monitoring to have a low average power consumption. Depending on the setup – up to 5 years on a SAFT LS14250 cell.
We have setup a contact state and click counter, and have the data in the advertising, so no connection required to obtain data.
We will put up a board design for this application soon.
I thought I would put in a plug for Evo Things.
If you are looking at using a BLE platform (such as CC2650) and want to develop Android or IOS apps I recommend you consider including Evo Things in your tool set.
Below is a ZIP with one of the EvoThings Example Projects with LED control for anybody interested. (For the TI Sensor TAG CC2650STK)

I also modified one of the other sensor tag examples to show the magnetometer vector (this example has the gyro and accelerometer off to save some power)
