DIN001 Distributed Controller – BMS / HVAC / IO – Fan Interface

The DIN001 Controller has been designed to interface to Ventilation Fans.
As well as robust RS485 ports and analog inputs, it includes a port designed specifically for controlling Fans with a 0-10V analog port.

This controller will enable you to “daisy chain” up to the limits of the Modbus Protocol Addressing and network polling timing. All the relevant registers for operation and status of the Fan and Sensors are fetched with a single polling query.

The controller is designed to have a local power supply, or a backbone power connection. The distribution of power supplies for the backbone can be manipulated by the system designer.

The Car Park Ventilation Firmware (FWVer01) interfaces to Fans with a Speed Controller (using RS485 Modbus), and has inputs for a CO Gas Sensor and Smoke Detectors.

A typical system arrangement is shown below

The hardware design is what you expect from an industrial grade device.

  • Connections including the RS485 ports are protected by transient protection devices.
  • The Backbone Power Supply can be from 30V to 48V, allowing operation with voltage drops on cabling. The design includes rugged power management.
  • The Backbone RS485 Network uses a ADM2687 isolated interface, preventing issues with current loops and common mode voltages.
  • The Fan RS485 connection uses a ADM2687 isolated interface.
  • The 4 analog inputs can be setup (at manufacturing) for 4-20mA or Voltage inputs.
  • Typical analog input uses are Gas Sensors and Smoke Detectors. Both sensor supply current and signals can be monitored.
  • Isolated Opto Mosfet Output for controlling devices (for example a device enable).
  • The local power supply input includes a series diode.
  • Powerful ARM Cortex STM32F091 processor.
  • Large MX25R8035 (1MByte) SPI Flash for Logging.
  • 6 module (108mm wide)  EN 60715 TH35 Din Rail Enclosure – Mounts into a Distribution Enclosure – neatly installs with a Meanwell HDR-60-48 (1 power supply per 4-5 controllers depending on cabling).
  • Plug in screw terminals for external wiring.
  • Headers for IIC and UART for extra modules (eg add a Wireless Access Point for our Wireless Sensors).
